Lawyers working for the firm have a longstanding practice of contract and liability law, personal injury compensation and mass litigation.

Alexandra Cohen-Jonathan is an expert in insurance and liability litigation with over 25 years of experience. Her career has led her to work on numerous sensitive and large-scale cases.

After 20 years at Hascoët & Associés, and 7 years in the Litigation, Arbitration and Criminal Law department of August Debouzy, she created Tamaris Avocats in 2021 with her team of dynamic associates fully experts in insurance law. The team has been working together for several years, and is dedicated to clients’ needs in order to offer dedicated support tailored to their specificity.

Alexandra Cohen-Jonathan is constantly recommended by her clients and recognized by her peers for her expertise in various rankings.

In 2023, Sophie Cochery joined the firm as Partner. Sophie has developed a long-standing practice in insurance law with a focus on Financial Lines insurance matters. She acted as monitoring counsel in various complex cross-border matters involving financial institutions, banks and investment funds. She also acts for companies and insurers of the aviation sector and is a recognized specialist in air transport and aviation-related insurance and product liability issues. She joined from DLA Piper where she practiced 3 years as Counsel in the Insurance and Aviation team in Paris. She has a prior experience of 15 years at HMN & Partners.

As a member of AMRAE and AIDA, the firm remains at the heart of insurers’ debate with respect to new risks and new global issues.

Tamaris Avocats assists its clients on insurance coverage and insurance contract interpretation issues. The firm acts in contentious cases  before civil, commercial and criminal courts as well as in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution procedures.

Our experience and know-how enable us to understand all types of cases before these jurisdictions and to implement the best strategy adapted to the client’s needs, the field of activity or the scope of the case (mass litigation), in particular in terms of negotiation or the implementation of an alternative dispute resolution method.

CIVIL, PROFESSIONAL, PRODUCT LIABILITIES & EMPLOYER'S INEXCUSABLE FAULT

Tamaris Avocats handles numerous cases in defense of its clients’ interests, when the civil liability of companies and/or their managers is sought, on the grounds of alleged professional negligence, inexcusable fault or product defects (pharmaceutical products, automotive, rail and air industries, mass consumption, tobacco etc.).

In this respect, Tamaris Avocats regularly operates on mass and “serial” cases, including those presenting an international dimension.

FINANCIAL LINES INSURANCE CLAIMS

Having a long-standing practice of D&O insurance and managers’ professional duties and liability (civil, criminal and regulatory), the team is regularly appointed by D&O insurers to monitor individual or mass-claim actions in France and foreign jurisdictions and advises insurers on coverage. Special risks, fraud and financial institution liability are also part of our area of expertise.

BODILY INJURY

The team regularly assists clients with respect to compensation for bodily injury, including group compensation and the establishment of compensation protocols.

CONSTRUCTION

The team regularly operates in litigation related to construction operations, in particular in pre-litigation and judicial expert appraisals but also in the drafting and analysis of contracts.

Alexandra Cohen-Jonathan was admitted to the Paris Bar in 1994. She graduated from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (DEA in business and tax law).

Alexandra Cohen-Jonathan assists clients with respect to all issues of the insurance sector for French and foreign clients. Her career has led her to work on numerous sensitive and high-profile media cases.

Her expertise is widely recognized in insurance law, industrial risks and product liability.

She is a member of the AMRAE and AIDA associations.

Sophie COCHERY • Partner

BIOGRAPHY

Sophie Cochery assists her clients in all aspects of insurance and liability law and represents them in litigation before the criminal, civil, commercial and arbitration courts, in particular thanks to her 4 years’ experience at a leading arbitration institution (the International Chamber of Commerce, ICC) acquired at the start of her career.

Sophie Cochery has represented various clients in the aeronautics industry (aircraft manufacturers, suppliers, MROs, and their insurers), and has been involved in particular in the major fatal air accidents which have occurred in France over the last 30 years.

She graduated in 1997 from the University Paris IX Dauphine (Master in Management Sciences and International Business Law) and in 2000 in the University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (Master in Foreign Trade Law). She also holds an LL.M. from Exeter University (United Kingdom).

She was admitted to the Paris bar in 2005.

Charles Hugo advises French and foreign clients in litigation and civil procedures on issues relating to insurance and commercial law. He assists clients in various areas such as industrial risks, serial claims and personal injury.

He graduated from the University of Montpellier 1 in 2014 (Master 2 Professional Insurance Law) and has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2015.

Charles Hugo joined Alexandra Cohen-Jonathan’s team at August Debouzy in 2015. He joined Tamaris Avocats in 2021 and participated in the creation of the firm.

Charles Hugo is mediator trained at the Mediation and Arbitration Center of Paris (CMAP), a member of AIDA, AMRAE and of the association Droit et Procédure.

Victoire Boulanger advises French and foreign clients in litigation and civil procedures on issues relating to insurance and commercial law. She advises clients in various areas such as industrial risks, serial claims and personal injury.

She graduated from the Insurance Institute of Paris of the University Paris I Panthéon – Sorbonne (University Diploma and Master II in Insurance Law, 2014), where she completed a two-year work-study program at Marsh France, first in the Legal & Compliance Department and then in the Civil Liability Department as a claims advisor. She also holds an LL.M. from King’s College London (International Business Law, 2015) and participates in the emergency criminal defense of the Paris Bar.

Admitted to the Paris Bar in 2016, she joined August Debouzy in 2018 after a first experience in an international business law firm. She joined Tamaris Avocats in 2021 and participated in the creation of the firm.

Victoire Boulanger is a member of the Young AIDA, AIDA and the AMRAE associations.

Loïc Rouzée assists and represents French and foreign clients in litigation and pre-litigation cases, in particular on insurance and commercial law issues. He intervenes in various areas such as industrial risks, defective products and personal injury.

He graduated from the Master 2 Insurance Law of the University Panthéon-Assas (2016).

Admitted to the Paris Bar in 2019, he joined Alexandra Cohen-Jonathan’s team at August Debouzy the same year, after having accomplished several internships  in courts and in the legal departments of French bancassurers.

Loïc Rouzée joined Tamaris Avocats in 2021 and participated in the creation of the firm.

He is a member of the AMRAE and AIDA associations.

Hedwige de Poncins advises French and foreign clients in litigation and civil procedures on issues relating to insurance and commercial law. She intervenes in various areas such as industrial risks, civil liability and construction.

She graduated from the Insurance Institute of Paris of the University Paris Dauphine-PSL (University Diploma and Master II in Insurance Law, 2019), where she completed a two-year work-study program at the SCOR, working in the property and bodily injury claims management team. She has also carried out several internships in law firms specialised in insurance law.

BIOGRAPHY

Naomi Bulet-Nzonzi assists and represents French and foreign clients in litigation and pre-litigation cases, in particular on civil law, insurance law and commercial law issues. Her areas of expertise include industrial risks, civil liability and construction.

She graduated from the Insurance Institute of Paris of the University Paris I Panthéon – Sorbonne (University Diploma and Master II in Insurance Law, 2020). She is enrolled in a University Diploma in Art and Culture Law at the University of Nantes and studies Art History at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris.

Admitted to the Paris Bar in 2023, she joined Tamaris Avocats as her first experience.

Naomi Bulet-Nzonzi is a member of Young AIDA, AIDA France and Le Barreau des Arts.
